TV Ads, GL-Ads and B-Ads

With the profusion of TV ads that we are subjected to whilst trying to enjoy telly (!) I thought I'd compile a short list of favourites and also the ones that I really wish I'd never seen. I'll add more to it as and when they make an impression on me, but for now here's the list:

GL-Ads: the ones that I like, not ones that I produced - it's a coincidence that GL are my initials!

Now this one I like. It's funny, inoffensive and I don't get tired of it - well done Evian.

I quite like this Aviva advert starring Paul Whitehouse, although the Silver Surfer one is better:

Aviva Ad - Silver Surfer

(when It goes on Youtube I'll stick it here)

Oh yes, this one is definitely a GL-AD!

B-Ads: annoying ads that really get under my skin!

If that moustache'd curly-haired idiot tells me one more time to GO COMPARE, I'll, i'll.......get annoyed - what else can I do? I can't think of a better example of an advertising campaign that deliberately sets out to annoy people just so that they remember the name of the company. Suppose it works, but I will refuse to use Go Compare on the basis that I resent the way they invade my living room every 2 minutes and shout at me.

This one gets up my nose right from the offset - "We have a name for people born without the ability to haggle - British" (said with a sneer, from an Iranian comedian). I'm not racist (my wife is Singaporean) but I do find this to be racist against British people, even if it is said in jest. I guess they think they can get away with it due to our overly PC culture that has evolved to the point where 'normal' people get discriminated against and can't stand up for what they think / want.

This one annoys me because it is a catchy tune, but I DON'T want to be humming it at work or in the evening when relaxing, so don't try to make me!
